It&#039;s true that the cinematic version ends with the triffids being defeated by sea water. However, in the novel Wyndham leaves the matter open. The book finishes with Bill Masen researching a method for the destruction of the triffids, but no final solution is mentioned, and presumably one has not yet been discovered. 

As I mention in &#039;How to Survive the Day of the Triffids&#039;, Hollywood disinformation should be ignored.</description>
