Something no kit should be without

Postby railfun » Mon Jan 07, 2008 10:51 pm

I recommend we all think of a few and then debate out the essentials.
Books: http://onlinebooks.110mb.com/tm%2031-21 ... ntents.htm US Army technical manual 31-210, improvised weapons and munitions
And of course the zombie survival guide by Max Brooks
Canned food and/or MREs
Water, how much is dependent upon area
Primary firearm
Melee weapon (can be 12 oz hammer)
Survival knife, with included slingshot (optional), fishing line, compass, and sharpening stone
Map, must be topographic

I have a copy of the improvised weapons and munitions handbook, and most of the information inside of it pertains to bomb making. There are the pipe guns, but you have to shove something down the barrel to eject the shell. While that is better than nothing at all, you'd be better off with a wal-mart machete when faced with a swarm. I have made a couple of .22 caliber pipe guns, and neither is very accurate(although that could be my fault).

umm... no, a walmart machete is not better. Those things are shit and would fall apart after the first 2, if you had enough hulk in you to kill those even those two with the first swing(I sure as hell know I dont)

A machete would be better than a bomb. Even the ones from walmart are full tang.

actually, a bomb would probably be better than a walmart machete. You don't necessarily need to kill the zombie. If it's a powerful enough bomb simply removing a leg would be enough so that you could either get away or bash it in the head with a rock.
