S.I.R. is a hunting/goods store, but ask me what it stand for, and I can't tell ya'. I don't remember. I don't know if you guys in the States have this store, but it's basically an outdoor survivalists dream come true! It's got all the gear you need for outdoor survival, including tents, heaters, clothing, etc. And of course, last but certainly not least, it's got weapons!!! Everything from rifles (with scopes for your sniping needs), hand guns and shotguns, to swords and knives.
My plan would be to make it to this store with any other survivors, and gear up! Now, for provisions wise, there is a WalMart right across the street from S.I.R. My plan would be to get as many people with you, gear up with your choice of weapons, grab some back packs, and make a food run to the WalMart, and then get back to the S.I.R. It's easily defensible, with only 2 entrances to the building. The customer entrance, which is 2 large doors, which could be barricaded with store items (canoes, display cases, etc), and the employee/emergency exit in the back. There are no windows. We could use lanterns and candles for light. We would have to grab non perishible food stuffs on our WalMart food runs, as there is obviously no backup generator to the store, but it would make a good place to hole up for a while.
Now, if anyone has read any other postings of mine, where I am totally against staying barricaded inside my home, this may seem like a contradiction. But you see, my house has none of the weapons that this store does, nor do I live across from a WalMart. I would still like to remain on the move, but this would be a good temporary base.

You May Be on to Something...
Damn, Randy, you're right. Not everyone will be totally fired up to join up in one big harmony against the undead horde. I would welcome anyone, but there would be looters and bandits I'm sure. And like you said, I'm sure other people would have the same idea. Hmm, sounds like I need a backup plan.

In the us we have REI and cabellas. If you want a backup plan, why not horde supplies before the zombie apocalypse. Get gallons of water, and canned food as well as MREs (meals ready to eat) and store them upstairs. When z-day comes and they come knocking, you will be safe upstairs with the stairs knocked down so that they cannot get up. Fill every bathtub with water as well as all the sinks. You will have access to the attic and the roof as well for storage of food water and ammunition, and another way out.

Aye, not a bad plan at all! Yeah, why not prepare before hand? Ha! Excellent! They won't find me unprepared now! Thanks for the suggestion!
