Here's a thought. Based on many of the movies out there, Zombies seem to be capable of biting/clawing through most clothing. I know that Kevlar exhibits a high tensile strength when woven and provides excellent protection from high velocity projectiles, but I am wondering if a full suit of woven Kevlar might protect in those near miss situations that always seem to be occurring. I base this on the kevlar gloves you can buy for things like fileting fish or woodcarving to prevent cuts. So what are everyone's thoughts here? Do you think that a Kevlar shirt would be strong enough to stop that surprise bite or scratch? The short would of course be high necked and long sleeved. If it might work, then lets explore an entire head to toe preventative measure here.

Kevlar Kitchen Gloves Vs. Zombies
Actually, I was just thinking about those very same kitchen-safety gloves - my Grandma's got a set downstairs. See, I tried them on the other day and when I bit them, I figgered out that they're better for protecting yourself from your own blades than from zombies, at least the kind we have. On the side ours say they don't protect from knife punctures, just from cuts.
I'm sure they make tougher kitchen gloves for pro cooks and stuff - anyone got a link to any cooking sites with these kinds of gloves?

100% 7 gauge Kevlar, resist cuts and abrasions, can be worn by themselves or as liners.

Re: The properties of Kevlar
I don't think Kevlar would be effective.
I'm an Aircraft mechanic, and I use Kevlar gloves on a daily basis to protect my hands- The gloves wear out very quickly(I usually use a fresh pair every day). They're too thin to protect you from anything more than small cuts, but anything thicker would be bulky and get in the way. You'd probably be better off with leather.

My flak jacket without any metal plates is perfect for any zombie bite. It is thick enough to withstand bites and that really is the main purpose of zombie armor. Riot gear is pretty good for leg and arm protection and there is this new lightweight stuff that would be perfect for zombies.
