Now, I'm not speaking from any particular experience here...

Except that I've killed zombies, and I've spent some time in prison...

And I can tell you that when it comes to zombie defense and defense against zombies, nothing beats a prison cell.

If you've got food, that is. When the zombies surround you, you'd better have food, no matter where you are...

Prison. And Ramen. Because you can't eat zombie.

Max Brooks Would Agree

Yeah, Chester, you're right about prison - Max Brooks wrote a great big section about them in his The Zombie Survival Guide - there's tons of detailed information on preparing a prison complex for long term occupation during a widespread zombie outbreak.

Brooks' considers complexes like prisons to be "Zombie Fortresses," of a different class than your everyday home fortress. He believes that in the event of a long-term, widespread zombie outbreak (Brooks categorizes Zombie Outbreaks by "Classes") that you'd want to take refuge against potentially thousands of zombies (zombie swarms) - and the best zombie defense would, you're right, probably be an old prison.

New prisons aren't really any good against zombies - Brooks points that out too. You all should definitely read The Zombie Survival Guide when you get a chance - I keep a copy in the bathroom.
