When being to safe is what kills you.
I live in fear that when the zombie threats happens, that I'll focus all my preparation on securing my home, with no back up plan in sight. Sure the windows and doors are boarded up, I have food for weeks, but what happens in moths? What happens if boards aren't enough? They come crashing in, where do I and my loved ones go? Any ideas? How have you been preparing?

Zombies preparedness is wholistic
See, I think that when you plan a zombie survival strategy, you should definitely think on the long-term as well as the short term - even if you do survive a siege on your home, how are you going to feed yourself and your family after the breakdown of the world's agricultural-industrial complex?
That's why I think a zombie survival plan should include both a short-term survival strategy to live out the initial zombie outbreak and a long-term plan for living in a post-zombie world. The former is definitely easy than the latter, but the latter is infinitely more important.

Supplies for the home.
Get supplies for the long term, not just food and extra clothing, basics things you need for survival. If you've read any survival guides for camping it's a good start. If you don't think past you're house, you might be all set zombies are after brains, something you seem to lack.

My basics are water, food (through whatever means), shelter of any kind, basic medical supplies/knowledge and sugar and salt and fat. You must choose your foods based on your needs, not on your wants.
I recommend (during a shopping spree sans a vehicle during an attack)water, beef jerky, any kind of nuts (especially salted and honey roasted), water, dried fruits, dehydrated milk, dehydrated soups, water, granola bars, trail mix, dried beans, water, bags of rice and cereal, vodka or whiskey/scotch (good for drinking, cleaning wounds, bartering and makeshift bombs) water, and as much salt and sugar as you can carry (these are essential, especially salt as it is not as commonly found in nature as other vital nutrients and is good for preserving fresh meat).
With a vehicle it is more tempting to take other non-necessities, but you should still adhere to the above guidelines and pack as much as you can in easy to grab/carry bags in case you have to hoof it.
If you (and not many others) survive, then you have the whole world at your fingertips. Learn as much as you can about subsistence living now and apply it to your longer term survival.
If you are "rescued" in the short-term, then at least you knew enough to survive and can apply/teach your skills in the future. Knowledge is always power.

You should certainly stock up on all essentials, enough to last for a substantial amount of time. Obviously, that won't work forever, so I think it is crucial to have a hidden escape route so you can abandon the house and move past the barricade of zombies outside your home.
