In order to gain the “Head Honcho” achievement in Left 4 Dead 2, you’ll at least need a melee weapon. To gain the achievement, you’ll have to remove the heads of 200 common infected zombies with that melee weapon – so make sure it’s one you enjoy using. The samurai sword seems to be particularly good for gaining the “Head Honcho” achievement, as well as the machete, although really any melee weapon will do.
The “Head Honcho” achievement can take some time if you simply play through the game normally; however, there’s a much easier way to get the “Head Honcho” achievement. Make sure you’re carrying plenty of bile bombs (or, if you’re daring, pipe bombs). When you reach a new area with lots of zombies, throw down the bile bomb (or pipe bomb) to cause the zombies to gather in one particular area, closely packed together. Then quick (especially if you’re using the pipe bomb) approach the mass and slash at them with your melee weapon – make sure you slash high, aiming at the tops of their heads. Hack and slash until all the zombies are gone, then repeat the process. You’ll rack up those 200 decapitations pretty quickly with this method and will soon gain the “Head Honcho” achievement.
