Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Written and directed by Jonathon King, New Zealand’s Black Sheep is probably the world’s first zombie-sheep movie, and most than likely, the last. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hold a special place in this Zombiephile’s heart. A cautionary tale about the dangers of mixing genetic engineering and zombies, Black Sheep bites you by the shin and doesn’t stop shaking until the movie’s outrageously climactic ending.

There’s really not much that we can say about Black Sheep. It’s about sheep. They bite people. Those people turn into zombies that are also kind of…shall we say, Sheepish? And yes, there’s even some sheep-shagging, if you know what I mean.

If you’re looking for a serious zombie movie, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a ridiculous, hilarious story about zombie sheep eating people, you’ve come to the right place.

Well, Zombiephiles, there’s good news and bad news about the upcoming World War Z movie. The bad news: the release date has been pushed back to 2010. The good news? Another two years means that Brad Pitt’s Plan B Productions will have plenty of time to get the movie right.

Although copies of the script are supposedly circulating around the internet, a recent comment on IMDB’s board, also supposedly by J. Michael Straczinski himself pleads with internet users to stop the rumor-milling and script-circulation and, instead, look forward to the movie’s release with earnest:

Guys, here’s a simple question.

Do you want to see this film made, or just talk about the script?

Studios get very nervous when drafts leak out, and they get even more nervous when people start taking it apart, good or bad, online…it can make them think too many people have seen it, start reconsidering their opinions, and the next thing you know it’s back in development hell or gone. I’ve seen several projects at this sensitive stage literally scuttled by such things.

If all you want is to talk about the script, then great…but if you want to see Max Brooks’ novel brought to film, brought to life, and maybe make one of the best zombie movies in a long time, can we declare a moratorium on both analyses and passing around my script (which people shouldn’t have in any event) until AFTER the film gets made?

Thanks.

JMS

This Zombiephile gave up on tracking down the script himself when he remembered that he likes being surprised when he goes to the movies (and when a copy failed to be forthcoming). Personally, we can’t wait to see World War Z get made, although we certainly can wait to see the script.

With rumors flying around that the role of the interviewer will be played by Pitt himself (completely unconfirmed) and that Children of Men director Alphonso Cuaron may be set to direct (also completely unconfirmed), one thing is for sure: the zombie world is heating up, and 2010 can’t get here fast enough.

One way or the other, World War Z will probably be the zombie movie to end all zombie movies, which is kind of a bummer since we like zombie movies! But with a remake of George Romero’s classic Night of the Living Dead and countless other zombie movies scheduled for release in 2008, 2009 and 2010, we should have plenty of brains to gorge ourselves on until World War Z sees release.

Well, thanks to the wonders of copyright infringement and the advent of file-sharing, our Zombiephile has managed to actually sit through the new Day of the Dead remake, and it’s…well, it’s a zombie movie, that much we can tell you. Much less than a remake of the original George Romero Day of the Dead, the new movie is a trite simplistic, a bit silly, and generally lacking in the social context in which the original was written. Nonetheless, it’s a perfectly watchable zombie movie and even featured a few interesting innovations in the zombie genre that left this Zombiephile rubbing his stubbly, unwashed chin.

This Zombiephile has been killin’ zombies again. Lots of them. And it feels really, really good.

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, released last month and available only on the Nintendo Wii console, is an injection of zombie-slaying goodness directly into the Wii console, and it’s much appreciated. Doubtless the best shooter on the Wii console since Metroid, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles succeeds in so many ways that it’s hard to distill just five reasons: but distill we have.

The Zombiephiles’ Five Reasons to Love Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles

5) Capcom has returned truly awful voice acting to the Resident Evil franchise.
Anyone who played the old RE games remembers that the voice acting in the first three Resident Evil titles was absolutely terrible, zero inflection, complete disregard for context and personality, real rubbish. Playing TUC almost feels like Capcom went and dug the old voice actors out of the closet to remake some of the most wonderful moments in improbably bad dialogue that we’ve ever experienced. Kudos.

4) The Umbrella Chronicles lets you relive some of the RE games’ greatest (and scariest) moments, from a perspective that actually makes sense.
We don’t mean that the plot makes sense; that’s still total garbage; we mean that the perspective of the game makes sense - you can actually aim for the head now. The overhead, cinematic camera style of the previous RE games meant it was impossible to get that most satisfying of zombie kills - the head shot. TUC puts the old RE games into a fast-paced, first-person perspective that keeps you drooling for more.

Perhaps recent visitors to the Zombiephiles have noticed something different. Instead of our infectious zombie humor, news and entertainment, visitors were instead greeted by an outbreak of the more everyday variety - a javascript downloader virus in the header.php file of our Wordpress installation.

Now, this Zombiephile will tell you that when it comes to Blogging, his specialty is zombie defense, not hacker defense, but as soon as he learned of the infection he sprung into action, quickly eliminating the script reference in the site’s installation files and changing login information - but not before some loyal zombiephytes were exposed to the infection.

Long and the short of it? Zombiephiles.com got hacked, and although we can easily undo the damage, we’re not entirely sure how hackers gained access in the first place. Updating the site’s Wordpress installation seemed like a good idea, as did changing our administrator login and boarding up the living room windows. Some of our more paranoid zombiephytes are concerned that this may be an informational attack by the government in the days leading up to a potential zombie outbreak - and this zombiephile isn’t discounting the possibility.

For the short term, however, we’re declaring the Zombiephiles.com to be a Green Zone - no zombies here.

A quick Google search confirms that the leaked “WWZ” script is has been reviewed at several websites, although (like the Zombiephiles), most of the big-name zombie sites aren’t posting it.

The World War Z movie, not due for release until 2008, has been the subject of much widespread internet buzz, thanks to the book’s immense popularity. Thanks to the leaked screenplay, though, things are likely to heat up even further.

As of yet this Zombiephile hasn’t seen any comment from writer J. Michael Straczinski - but we’ll let you know when we do.

Expect to see a World War Z Movie Script Review in time for Christmas. Zombiephiles of the world, Unite!

So, Zombiephiles, thanks to the wonder of Google Analytics, I’ve learned some terrifying news about Zombies, some starting new zombie information that may rock your world as much as it did mine.

Zombie Porn is the Zombiephiles’ top entry keyword. That’s right - Zombie porn.

What is it about people that compels them to search for the strangest porn imaginable? This Zombiephile has seen a lot, but zombie porn beats it all. You see, unlike almost all other porn in the world, there are no zombies (yet). So when you’re talking about midget porn, that’s one thing, because there exist midgets, and midget porn.

But the reason why the Zombiephiles is one of the top hits for the search “Zombie Porn” is simple - there just isn’t any zombie porn out there. That, Zombiephiles, is where you come in.

We want your Zombie porn! Make it, find it, change it up, just send it to the Zombiephiles and we’ll start a Zombie Porn section! Only the hottest dismembered / decomposing chicks, please - I don’t need any butterfaces on my zombie porn site.
